Google announced several updates this week to expand the capabilities of Bard, its new experimental AI chatbot.
The changes aim to make Bard more helpful for managing workflows and generating content.
Bard Can Now Summarize More Emails
When used with the Workspace Extension in Gmail, Bard can now summarize more emails simultaneously to provide quick updates. It has also been improved to understand requests for summaries of recent emails better.
“Sometimes you just need an update, so we’re improving the way Bard can understand when you need the latest emails,” reads a Google announcement.
Shared Bard Conversations Now Display Images
When users share Bard conversations containing images, they are visible to those they share with. This provides context and sparks creativity for others to continue the chat with their own Bard interactions.
“Adding an image to your prompt can take your creativity to new heights,” the company said. “Now that others can see the image you used in your prompt, they will be able to better appreciate your creative process and continue the conversation with Bard in their own way.”
Previous Update: Bard Gains Access to More Google Services
Previously, in September, Google allowed Bard access to real-time information from Google services like Maps, YouTube, Hotels, and Flights to help users gather information and develop ideas more easily.
Most recently, Google enabled English-speaking users to allow Bard to interact with their Gmail, Docs, and Drive content to find, summarize, and answer questions. Google stated user data will not be used to train Bard’s public model, and access can be restricted anytime.
“Now, you can collaborate not only with the world’s information but also with your own, all in one place, with Bard as your creative partner,” the company said in its announcement.
Bard is currently available as a limited preview. Google plans to make it more widely accessible in the coming weeks and months.
