Myriad Search Meta Search Engine – Spotlight #8
Aaron Wall of the SEOBook has developed a new meta search engine which serves results from Yahoo and Google API’s, MSN Search RSS feeds (soon to be API) and Ask.com. What? Another meta search engine with Google, Yahoo and MSN results? What’s so special about that you may ask. Well, Aaron’s Myriad Search allows users to control the influence of each engine in their search results.
Users can select the bias of each search engine on a -5 to 5 scale and an include, exclude, or require selection as well. Aaron says this feature “allows users to add positive or negative bias to any engine’s search results to increase or lower the relative importance of that engine. This can be used to improve overall relevancy of the meta search, or to help give share of voice statistics.”
Aaron also plans to release the source code of the engine, adding to its ‘transparency’. Myriad Search is advertisement free and Aaron is asking users to give it a test run. As always, Wall is open for feedback and of all places, he has opened his SEOBook blog for comments on Myriad Search – please leave feedback on Myriad.
