It’s now time for Microsoft’s chairman Bill Gates to say something about the never ending issue about the unsuccessful Microsoft take-over bid of Yahoo. Mr. Gates who said that the Yahoo offer was as fair as they could give said that Microsoft will invest more on Web search to compete against Google. This, Microsoft will do, with or without Yahoo.
Mr. Gates said that Microsoft has all the resources to make big investments in the engineering and marketing to strengthen its web search infrastructure even if they failed to acquire Yahoo. Although the take-over bid failed to materialize, Gates however acknowledge the fact that it would have been easier for Microsoft compete against Google in the web search market if it was successful in combining forces with Yahoo. Given Yahoo’s great engineering work done by its engineers, a Yahoo-Microsoft tandem would have given Google a good competition.
Exactly how Microsoft is planning to strengthen its web search machinery to compete was not made clear by Gates however.
And with Yahoo always standing in close second to Google, I think Microsoft would have to deal in beating Yahoo before it even dreams of competiting against Google. And I don’t think Yahoo would give them an easier time, this time.
