Windows Live Search Rolls Out News Alerts Service

Windows Live Search Rolls Out News Alerts Service

The Windows Live Search blog has just announced a new feature that allows users to have news delivered to their email, either daily, twice daily or weekly. Similar to Google News Alert, you can select only those news stories which are related to your search term. But unlike Google News Alert, Live Search’s news delivery service lets you choose top headlines or subject-specific news headlines.

The feature also users to set up any number of news alerts for varying topics or headline categories. The news alert will be sent to  the email address that users indicated when they created a Windows LIVE I.D.

Windows Live Search maybe a little late in offering this kind of service but it could still be a useful feature especially for those who prefer Windows Live Search as their search engine, as well as news.live.com as their first-hand source of news. And the fact the you can select Top headlines as well as area-specific headlines is a good add-on to the Live Search News service.

To activate Live Search news alert, just visit news.live.com and sign in with your Live ID, click on the News alerts link, and then click on “Create Alert.”
