The exodus of some more Yahoo employees might continue as Yahoo is said to be planning on announcing another round of layoffs during its first quarter financial report on Tuesday. The layoffs might affect several hundreds of Yahoo employees, the NYTimes reports. If this layoff push through, this will be the third time that Yahoo is getting rid of its employees since first quarter of 2008. During that time around 1000 Yahoo workers were laid off. While another 1,400 were laid off during the last quarter of 2008. This will also be the first major layoff since Yahoo’s new CEO Carol Bartz took charge of the company.
Interestingly, this comes hot in the heels of several Yahoo-related news that came out recently. AdGooroo recently reported that Yahoo’s first page advertisers increased by 10% in Q1 2009. But this is just part of the whole Yahoo advertising strategy and not enough grounds to say that Yahoo’s advertising programs is doing well and good.
In fact, it may not be as good as it seems, especially since there were some buzz online recently that Yahoo and Microsoft are negotiating for a possible search ad deal again.
It’s less than a week before Yahoo’s First Quarter financial report, and we expect to see more buzz regarding this layoff.
