Bing has revealed the top marketing keywords searched for in 2016, according to Bing US search data. The latest in search technology appeared to be what was on most people’s minds, as personal assistants dominated the list of Bing’s search terms last year.
Microsoft, which owns Bing, has its own personal assistant of course. In addition to Cortana, searchers could very well have been interested in the multitude of other personal assistants on the market, but Bing did not specify.
”Personal assistants and artificial intelligence were a clear priority for marketers over the past year. Advances in chat bots and virtual assistants, such as Alexa, Cortana and Amazon Echo – as well as updates to several smartphone chat bots, were likely drivers for these search terms.”
The personal assistant market is shaping up to be fiercely competitive this year with Microsoft’s Cortana facing off against Apple’s Siri and Google’s Assistant. Also at the top of people’s minds is the latest in search marketing technology — augmented reality and virtual reality.
”Virtual and augmented reality came second to intelligence, with the popularity of searches representing the growth of this technology throughout 2016 – and it’s likely continual development into next year.”
Artificial intelligence was also a hot search term this past year, along with tried and true search marketing and email marketing.
