News broke this week that the ClickZ, SES, and Search Engine Watch brands have been acquired by UK Business builder Blenheim Chalcot.
The sale is now official, and the brands will reportedly continue to grow and be developed under Blenheim Chalcot:
Blenheim Chalcot and its portfolio company Contentive are delighted to announce the acquisition of the Interactive Marketing division comprising ClickZ, SES and SEW from Incisive Media. Blenheim Chalcot intends to continue to grow and develop these great businesses serving the digital marketing community worldwide. Blenheim Chalcot looks forward to working with ClickZ, SES and SEW subscribers and clients, and continuing to be the source of great content, learning and conferences.
The CEO of Incisive Media, the company that has owned these brands since 2005, mentions that he’s pleased with the acquisition and has full confidence in Blenheim Chalcot’s direction going forward.
At this point, it’s not known what (if any) changes will be made to the brands, but it will be interesting to see what a company outside of the search industry does to develop these brands.
According to Blenheim Chalcot’s website, they look for opportunities to step in and add value to growing markets:
“We look for high growth, potentially large industry sectors, typically undergoing some market, technology or regulatory discontinuity, where we can build scalable, platforms that satisfy a significant customer need, resulting in strong and sustainable margins.”
Perhaps it’s a sign that the industry is maturing if companies like Blenheim Chalcot are getting into the SEO and digital marketing space.
