Duane Forrester, former Senior Product Manager at Bing, will be taking on a new position as VP of Organic Search at Bruce Clay Inc.
According to an announcement on the company’s blog, Forrester’s role will be to oversee the organic search division, as well represent the company and conferences and industry events. Duane also announced the news at State of Search, where he was a keynote speaker.
With eight years at Microsoft on his resume, Forrester could have taken his career in virtually any direction he wanted. According to a statement on the website — he chose to work with Bruce Clay, in part, after seeing the potential in the company’s proprietary tool set.
No stranger to developing proprietary tools himself, Forrester helped lead the creation of Bing’s Webmaster Tools during his tenure with Microsoft.
In an exclusive statement to Search Engine Journal, Forrester further explains his decision to join Bruce Clay Inc.:
“When it came to the opportunity with Bruce Clay, Inc. it was not a big stretch in my mind to think this is a reasonable step forward for me. SEO has evolved many, many times from what it used to be. And honestly BCI is one of those companies that is having the forward-thinking conversations we need to be having. I’m stepping away from what I’ve known for 8 years, but now I’ve got an exciting 8+ years ahead of me here.”
Bruce Clay, Inc. has been featured Inc. Magazine 500|5000 list for the past 8 consecutive years as one of the fastest-growing private companies in the U.S.
BCI is sure to see continued growth with a former Bing senior executive heading organic search. It will be interesting to keep an eye on what comes out of this company going forward.
