Facebook Rolls Out New Overlays for Product Ads, Holiday Templates, More

Facebook is assisting advertisers with their holiday marketing strategies by rolling out new ad features well before the season begins.

Here is an overview of the brand new enhancements that advertisers can make use of this holiday season.

New Overlays for Product Ads

Facebook is expanding product ad overlays, a feature introduced last year, with new templates specifically designed for the holiday season.

Most notably, advertisers can use a Black Friday overlay to more visually promote discounted products.

The company says there were more than 450 million views of Black Friday and other related videos over the Thanksgiving shopping weekend last year.

” Two major retailers that tested the new decorative borders increased their return on ad spend by 40% each.”

The new overlays are available as of today.

Holiday Templates for Video Ads

Facebook is building on the video creation kit for mobile-first ads, introduced last month, with holiday-specific templates and stickers.

This will help businesses more easily create video ads that showcase their products with holiday-specific visuals.

New templates for video ads will be available in the coming weeks.

Updates to Collection Ads

Advertisers will soon be able to direct shoppers from collection ads to the instant storefront template.

Here, advertisers can automatically organize products from their catalog into more personalized groupings like “Suggested for You” and “Most Viewed.”

Advertisers will also be able to utilize the instant storefront template to add an automatically generated video with relevant products from their catalog.

This further simplifies the video creation process and will help people see ads that are most relevant to them.
