Facebook has announced that, as of today, everyone with the iOS app will have access to content published via Instant Articles.
Instant Articles will be highlighted in News Feed with a lighting bolt icon in the top right corner of the post. Articles with the lighting bolt icon are said to load 10 times faster than a standard article.
In addition to instantaneous loading times, Instant Articles may also contain the following interactive features:
- Autoplay videos that begin as readers scroll through the article
- Zoom and pan around high resolution photos by tilting your phone
- Like and comment on individual photos contained in a story
- Enhanced photo galleries
- Geo-tagged images that open into interactive maps
Instant Articles will be automatically posted to Facebook when available. For example, if you share a regular link and an Instant Articles version of that content is available, Facebook will automatically display the Instant Articles version.
With Instant Articles for iPhone finally out of the beta testing stages, Facebook has announced plans to begin a public beta for Android users later this week.
If you’d like to inquire about becoming an Instant Articles publisher you’re invited to contact the company via instantarticles.fb.com.
