In a recent interview from Startup Grind in Mountain View, California, Search Engine Journal’s Murray Newlands interviews Branden Hampton about using the video sharing app Vine and how to generate a larger following on Vine, or what is commonly known as becoming “Vine Famous”.
There are a lot of self-proclaimed “social media experts” on the Internet, but Branden Hampton is not one of them. With a network of over 20 Twitter accounts, nearly 12 million followers, and an undeniably natural instinct for driving user engagement, Branden has made a living as a “social media influencer.” His ability to identify and capitalize on trends and interact with users has helped him create a massive fan base not only for himself, but for his clients as well.
So, when we caught up with Branden at the recent Startup Grind conference, we wanted to get his take on Vine and how brands can use it as a viable networking and advertising platform. We asked Branden to also share his opinion on what makes successful Vine content and how brands can use the app to build their following and drive sales.

These are some key takeaways from the video:
- Over the course of his social media career, Branden has amassed millions of followers across networks such as Twitter, Instagram, and most recently Vine, and is widely regarded in the online marketing industry as a premier social media influencer.
- Branden’s advice for growing your following in Vine is essentially the same advice he gives to anybody trying to grow their following on any social media platform—create and share engaging and original content and the audience will follow.
- Branden does offer up some advice specific to Vine in the interview, explaining that the best way to build a fan base is to share videos that resonate with your followers and entices them to “re-vine” and not only save it for themselves, but also share it with their friends.
- Capitalizing on trending topics is a great way to get more followers as well, according to Branden. He uses the Super Bowl as an example, saying that you can expect to see a 30 to 40 percent increase in engagement just by using “#SuperBowl” and posting relevant videos on Vine and other social channels.
