Google My Business Adds New Post Types for Products and Offers

Google My Business Adds New Post Types for Products and Offers

Google My Business has introduced two new post types, which allow businesses to highlight products and offers.

The new ‘product’ and ‘offer’ post types can be utilized by Google My Business accounts to post about product and promotional details.

Posts created through Google My Business are displayed in local search and Maps results whenever the GMB listing is returned.

Here is more detailed information about the two new post types:

  • Event posts: Posts that promote an event your business is involved with or supports. Event posts require a title, start/end dates and time, and may include a photo/video, CTA button, and other information. For example, a bookstore may advertise a local author’s book signing or a book club meeting.
  • Offer posts: Posts that provide promotional sales or offers from your business. Offer posts require a title and start/end dates and times. A “View offer” CTA button is automatically added to the post. You can also include a photo/video, coupon code, link, and terms and conditions with the post. For example, a pizza parlor may advertise a 20% off large pizzas for a week.

Other post types that businesses can create with their GMB account include ‘What’s new’ and ‘Event’ posts.

‘What’s new’ posts provide general information and can include photos, videos, links, CTA buttons, and other information.

‘Event’ posts promote a specific event that business is either directly involved in or supports. These posts can also include photos, videos, and CTA buttons.

Any business with a verified GMB listing can create a post on Google.
