If you don’t know who Larry Page is: Wake up! You haven’t been paying enough attention. This Google co-founder is one of the biggest names in technology, and at age 37 is worth over 15 billion dollars. Not knowing Page in America is the equivalent of a citizen of the UK not knowing the name of the Crown Prince of Wales (it’s Charles, by the way). However, even if you know Page’s name, that doesn’t mean you necessarily know his interests — or how he spends his money. Looking at his fascinations, you’ll gain an interesting insight into the lives of the rich and famous. Page gets temporarily obsessed with new toys every so often. Most recently? A yacht.
According to the New Zealand Herald, Page purchased the yacht for about 59 million dollars from Sir Douglas Myers, who described it as an “adventure boat.” As far as boats are concerned, this luxury liner has it all: its interior is designed by famous Frenchman Philippe Starck; it has both outdoor and indoor dining options; it has a fully equipped gym; there’s a helicopter landing pad; and much, much more. In brief, 24 people could live on this thing — in extreme comfort. It also comes equipped with both a helicopter and a runabout, making it possible to follow its previous owner’s example: “fly in, take some friends, and spend a month or two.”
This makes Page a member of the club for incredibly rich people who bought boats for the price of a small country (Larry Ellison of Oracle and Paul Allen of Microsoft are other members of this club). Of course, Page seems to belong to many clubs these days. He’s been investing in many technologies of late, including the electric car division of the Tesla Motors company.
