Google announced a change to its search results today which is designed to guide travelers to the best restaurants and bars, according to the most reputable critics and publishers.
If you know what you’re in the mood for, but aren’t sure of the best places to go for it, you could search for something like “thai restaurant.” Google will then return what it thinks is the best result based on critic reviews and mentions in articles such as top 10 lists.
Google will surface critic reviews from reputable sources such as Zagat and Michelin, and will also link out to the lists in which the location is mentioned as being one of the top places to eat or drink in your area.
Ronnie Falcon, Product Manager at Google, reminds that for select locations Google indicates how long people usually stay there for. With this information you can plan your outing based on the amount of time you have available.
This feature is now live in US mobile search results using the Google app.
