Retail, whether online or offline, is certainly the driving force of our economy. When retail sales fade, so does everything else. Luckily, innovators like Google, Bing, and Yahoo — all of whom introduced new shopping features over the last few months — are helping to adapt the world of retail to the modern, savvy shopper. To share some of these innovations, as well as discuss trends on retail in the world of tomorrow, Google will be making a showing at the BIG Show on January 10th through the 13th.
The Google Retail blog gives us the details. The BIG Show will take place in the Jacob K Javits Convention Center in New York, where Google’s product search and commerce search teams can be found at booth 3239. There, team members of Google will be available to answer your questions and give some. Those looking for a more full presentation from Google can attend two from Google reps, including “In Stock Nearby: The Next Step in Shopping” presentation from Product Manager Paul Lee, where he will discuss cross-platform and cross-channel shopping; and “Search Insights,” where Nitin Magintini, the Commerce Search Group Product Manager, will discuss the nature of present-day “sophisticated online shoppers.”
While it’s not expected that Google will be making any product or service announcements here (especially given the recent push at CES), the presentations should nonetheless be interesting at the very least. We’ll be keeping an eye out for videos and posting them here if and when they arrive.
The BIG Show is brought to you by the National Retail Federation, a group that sees membership from more than 1.6 million retail locations and which has long represented a key organization in the retail field. In fact, the NRF page itself proudly sports the tag “100 Years: Since 1911.”
