Google Has Started Removing Penalties From Previous Penguin Updates

Google Has Started Removing Penalties From Previous Penguin Updates

When Google announced its latest Penguin update, one of the questions on top of everyone’s mind was: “how soon can I recover?”

There won’t be much longer left to wait, as Google’s Gary Illyes has confirmed Penguin recoveries are happening now, and will be finished within the next few days.

So if you have been penalized by Penguin in the past, and have taken the necessary steps to recover, you should start to see some improvement this week.

Bear in mind that removing a penalty only devalues the bad links pointing to the site — it does not automatically boost your site back up in the rankings.

If you have done nothing over the past two years other than trying to get links removed, you may only see a slight ranking adjustment, if it all. On the other hand, if you have been removing bad links while also acquiring good, new, links then you may see a more significant rankings adjustment.
