Later this year, Accelerated Mobile Pages (AMPs) will begin to receive increased exposure in Google’s mobile search results. This includes site like e-commerce, entertainment, travel, cooking, and more.
Increased exposure means that AMP pages will soon appear in the regular set of organic search listings, when previously they would be relegated to their own carousel at the top of the SERPs.
Google introduced a preview of this expanded exposure earlier this month; within the next few months it is about to go live for all searchers.
Accelerated mobile pages were built to reduce the amount of time it takes content to load on a mobile browser. With 40% of people likely to leave a site if it takes longer than 3 seconds to load, every second is critical.
Since the introduction of AMPs, over 4 million AMP pages are being created each second. If you need assistance with implementing AMP pages on your site, the Google team is available for questions on Facebook and Twitter using the #AMPlify hashtag.
