Google’s Security Issues report in Search Console has, for over 9 years, been a valuable tool for helping webmasters resolve security issues with their sites. This week, the report has been updated to contain new information.
The new information focuses on six specific security issues including, but not limited to: malware, deceptive pages, harmful downloads, and uncommon downloads.
Google will provide information about the issues detected, while offering unique recommendations for resolving each one.
If your site is not currently registered in Search Console, it is highly recommended that you do so. Search Console is the only place where Google communicates with site owners about issues that are specific to their sites.
If a security issue has been detected, or if you have been hit with a penalty, Search Console is the first place you’ll be notified. For more information about how Search Console can enrich your webmaster experience, see our writeup on the 5 hidden gems of Search Console (formerly Webmaster Tools).
