Today, LinkedIn released a new app called LinkedIn Job Search which is now available on iOS in the US.
Using the new app, users can browse, search for, and submit applications for jobs. The app features location-based search and personalized notifications.
Job seekers will receive notifications from the app when jobs they’ve viewed are about to expire, when a recruiter has viewed their application, and other notifications that are relevant to the user’s job search.
Based on your LinkedIn profile, the app can also recommend jobs it believes you’re suited for. You will also get recommendations based on job listings you have viewed in the past, and searches you’ve saved.
This is certainly a lot more user friendly than the emails LinkedIn sends out about jobs it believes you might be interested in. Not to mention the suggestions will likely be more personalized.
The app description on iTunes emphasizes “total privacy”, meaning you can search for jobs without anyone in your LinkedIn network knowing about it. Searching for jobs on a mobile app is also more discreet than browsing job listings on your desktop or laptop. That’s a good thing for anyone searching for a job while currently employed.
Right now the app is only available in the US, but LinkedIn plans to make it available internationally in more languages.
