NexTag Shopping Itself to IAC?

NexTag Shopping Itself to IAC?

Yes, this rumor is in constant play, but considering David Lewis’ prescient comments on PriceGrabber/Experian back in June of last year, you should check out his thoughts on NexTag and IAC hooking up (a deal he also pondered last June).

A couple people have mentioned to me that AOL is interested in NexTag. While it makes sense for AOL to shore up it’s shopping site, NexTag wouldn’t be a good fit because the company makes a majority of its money from mortgage lead gen services…which leads to Quinstreet as a possible partner.

Rumor has it that in the past, NexTag was displaying a very lofty price tag (add a couple hundred million onto the number you have in the back of your mind). I’d expect that price to inflate even more after the recent Shopping.com, Shopzilla, PriceGrabber, and LowerMyBills acquisitions.

Yes, Google Adwords and YSM get all the press, but lead generation and shopping comparison engines are strong and steady powerhouses in the internet marketing industry.
