Pinterest announced that it has hit a milestone of 250 million people using the social network each month.
The amount of content on Pinterest is growing at a rapid pace, with the company saying there are over 175 billion ideas to discover, which is up 75 percent since last year.
Jon Kaplan, Head of Global Sales, says in the official announcement:
“To me, this is further validation that we’re building a service that people really need. Pinterest is a place where people come to focus on themselves—to find inspiration for everything from a new hobby to a new look.”
Kaplan also shared a piece of information that marketers should take notice of.

Currently, 1.5 million businesses are active on Pinterest.

Businesses will soon be able to buy ads on Pinterest in certain non-English-speaking markets.
That’s important because over half of the users currently on Pinterest, and 80% of new signups, are from outside the United States.
Kaplan goes on to state that the company is committed to creating an environment that’s advertiser and consumer-friendly.
“Since coming to Pinterest, my goal has been to help build an ads platform that consumers would enjoy: a place where businesses can reach people with advertising that feels as helpful and relevant as organic content.”
The company closes its announcement by letting advertisers know that people rate ads on Pinterest as 1.4 times more relevant and useful than ads on other platforms.
