Yahoo

A popular search engine and portal in the 1990s.

It was created by two Electrical Engineering Ph.D. candidates, David Filo and Jerry Yang to answer their need for a central source of sites that were useful and of interest to them.

It started as a web directory but evolved into a web portal and search engine powered by Inktomi, and then later, by Google.

In 2010, Microsoft Bing took over in powering Yahoo Search.

Since 2010, Yahoo’s organic search results have been powered by Microsoft’s search engine, Bing.
