Most people in the SEO world know of v7n from its infamous V7ndotcom Elursrebmem SEO contest , which was probably the largest covered SEO ‘fake term’ contest of all time, covered in the Washington Post and Google Blogoscoped.
The Buy It Now price for v7n.com is $500,000 with bids starting at $400,000.
I contacted John Scott, the current owner of v7n and he assured me that this is a real sale, and not a gimmick to attract links and publicity to the site. John says he’s stepping away from SEO and v7n for his studies.
Scott used to own the BlueFind and SevenSeek web directories and sold them after offering the sites to the public market, we’ll see if v7n goes the same route.
