Virgin Mary Grilled Cheese Sells on eBay for $28,000
Remember the Virgin Mary grilled cheese sandwich that was put up on eBay and hit bids up to $16,000 last week. Well, the bidding in finally done on the miracle hot lunch and the final bid on the blessed sandwich came in at $28,000 and the maximum bidder was none other than the GoldenPalace.com online casino. One miracle may also be the amount of web traffic sent to eBay over the past week – the grilled cheese sandwich auction attracted more than 1.7 million visitors.
Don’t get me wrong, this is not ordinary grilled cheese sandwich. You see, it’s a miracle. The sandwich is blessed with the image of the Virgin Mary. Oh yeah, the sandwich has not molded in 10 years while being kept in nothing but cotton balls and its owner has won over $70,000 at casinos since being blessed with the miracle sandwich.
In her eBay auction offering, Diana Duyser, 52, of Hollywood, Fla., claimed she noticed the image when she bit into the sandwich all those years ago – and thought better of finishing it. Duyser also claimed the sandwich wedge has “blessed” her home: She’s pulled in $70,000 in casino winnings – she promises to show receipts. GoldenPalace.com, based in St. Johns, Antigua, said it will take its “slice of heaven” on a world tour for charity. The casino said it raised more than $200,000 for charity through promotions involving other items purchased on eBay.
“This is something people want to know more about,” said the casino’s chief executive, Richard Rowe. “Golden Palace will help spread the word. We believe that everyone should be able to see it and learn of its mystical power for themselves.”
