Yahoo’s social network for college graduates called Kickstart is going live today. What’s Kickstart? Here’s the official statement from the Yahoo Kickstart site:
Yahoo! Kickstart is a professional network with a distinct purpose: to connect college students, recent grads, professionals and alumni to discover internships and jobs, or get career advice and mentorship.
Basically the social network service is similar to the more professionally inclined LinkedI, where you users can create professional profile, browse company profiles and build up a social network of peers, professors, alumni and potential employers.
To kickstart the launch of its Kickstart, Yahoo is donating $25,000.00 to the college which will have the most number of profiles by December 31, 2007. So, if you want instant donation to your alma mater, gather up your fellow alumni and start building your profile at Yahoo Kickstart.
If you’re a recent college graduate, you might benefit from joining this social network. If you’re building up your online visibility, here’s another way to get some good old linkbacks to your site. It’s Yahoo, so it would definitely have a good bearing on your site’s Yahoo SERP.
