Yahoo Go Is A Go
From Yahoo Next, I learned that Yahoo TV is (semi) up and running (still in beta). More from the site:
“Now you can take Yahoo! off your computer and put it in your living room for everyone to see. View photos, search for video clips and watch movie trailers on your TV. Plus, your own digital video recorder (DVR) lets you record and watch your favorite shows anytime for free.”
A few fun features:
- you can view slideshows of your favorite digital photos right there on the TV, or browse Flickr from the couch.
- Find and watch the latest movie trailers, again from the couch (I’m sensing a recurring theme here).
- Create your own soundtrack with music you find using the Yahoo music search engine.
- Use the Yahoo DVR to record more stuff you can watch.
This is a free download but you’ll have to have some basic technical requirements, also, it’s only for Windows systems at this time. There’s also an interesting animation of how Yahoo Go could interact with your PC; I love the blurb:
“A few minutes at her PC, and Sandra was already overwhelmed with open windows. But with Yahoo! Go Desktop on her PC, she now has everything she needs on her desktop. Emails, news stories, her calendar and even blogs — all available without launching a browser.”
You go, Sandra! There’s also some great Yahoo Go Tips if you go to the community page and scroll down; these include personalizing Yahoo Go Tv for multiple users, how to set your pictures to music (Loren’s already got his copy of “Eye of the Tiger” all ready to go for SES Toronto), and fun with toggles.
